Indian Wells 2023: Cameron Norrie sinks Taro Daniel after coming back from one set down to reach last 16

Cameron Norrie beat Japan's Taro Daniel 6-7(5) 7-5 6-2 to reach the last 16 at Indian Wells on Sunday evening. The Briton, ranked No. 8 in the world, is hoping to add to his second ranking title of the year after securing the Rio Open against Carlos Alcaraz at the end of last month.

Ad Norrie had reached this stage after a comfortable 6-2 6-4 victory over Taiwanese opponent Wu Tung-lin, while Daniel had done well in his round-of-64 match to battle past experienced Italian, and No. 20 seed, Matteo Berrettini 7-6(5) 0-6 6-3. It was the No. 10 seed who was initially dominant on serve, sending down four aces in the first set, but Daniel managed three of his own in response. Neither player could break free of the other until the tie-break decided the first set and went 7-5 in Daniel’s favour.
