India survive late scare to clinch T20 series against Ireland

India survived a late scare from Ireland to make it two wins from two in their second T20 international, winning by four runs in Malahide.

The visitors looked set to win comfortably after scoring 225 before a late comeback from George Dockrell and Mark Adair put Ireland within touching distance of victory.

India won the toss, opting to bat first and after opener Ishan Kishan fell for three, Sanju Samson and Deepak Hooda put on a 176-run partnership before Samson fell for 77.

Hooda propped up India's innings with a mammoth 104 from 57 balls before Josh Little took his wicket and Ireland then pinned the visitors back at the death as Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel and Harshal Patel all went for ducks.

Set a target of 226, Paul Stirling hit 40 from 18 alongside captain Andrew Balbirnie who scored 60 from 37 to start the run chase well.

Ireland needed 38 from the final 18 balls and some quick runs from Dockrell and Adair saw them come close needing eight runs from three balls, but India were able to hold on.
