In the next 24-48 hours: Sky Sports now drops big Everton manager update; two candidates left

Sky Sports has now dropped some big Everton manager news involving both Frank Lampard and Vitor Pereira.

The Goodison Park manager shortlist seems to have been whittled down to two main candidates in Lampard and Pereira.

Some supporters of the Merseyside club have already made their feelings known that they would rather hire Lampard over Pereira, but only time will tell who the board choose as the permanent successor to Rafa Benitez.

As per Sky Sports’ The Transfer Centre (07:42am), an announcement on the Toffees’ next manager is now expected within the next 24 to 48 hours, and although Pereira is currently the favourite after further talks, Lampard is still a possibility:

“Vitor Pereira is favourite to be appointed Everton manager following further talks, however a final decision has yet to be made at this point.

“Frank Lampard remains a possibility. Sky Sports expects an announcement in the next 24-48 hours.”

After the controversial appointment of Benitez, due to his Liverpool connections, the board really need to appease the fans with who they next hire, and so with Lampard seemingly a more popular choice, they should go with him.

The key difference between the two is that Lampard has experience of managing in English football before with both Derby County and Chelsea, while Pereira has none.

Lampard also led the Blues to UEFA Champions League qualification in his first season despite a transfer ban, and with EFC also having some Financial Fair Play (FFP) problems, he could be a worthy candidate.
