Iggy Pop announces first Manchester show in years - how to get tickets
Legendary rocker Iggy Pop has announced a huge Manchester show following an ‘overwhelming demand’ for tickets to two previously-announced UK shows.
The 77-year-old, hailed by many as the 'Godfather of Punk', made a name for himself as the frontman for proto-punk band The Stooges in the 60s and 70s. A close collaborator with David Bowie, Iggy has also released 19 solo records, including last year’s Every Loser.
Last month, Iggy unveiled plans to perform in London and Glasgow next May and June. With only two shows announced, demand has been high for tickets - with the show at Glasgow's O2 Academy on June 3 now completely sold out.

Following his show at London’s Alexandra Palace on May 28, Iggy will now head to Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse on May 31 for his first show in the city in a long time. Tickets will go on sale on Friday via Ticketmaster.
Iggy, who is behind hits like Lust For Life and The Passenger, has a strong connection to Manchester with the city hosting one of the most iconic gigs of his career.
In 1977, Iggy performed twice at the Manchester Apollo. The first of the two shows even featured Bowie on keyboard. The ‘unhinged’ show was recorded and eventually released as a live album in 2006.
An expletive-laden appearance from Iggy on Tony Curtis’ 1977 show So It Goes was also cited as one of the reasons that Granada TV refused to renew the show for a third season. During the show, a performance from Iggy’s Manchester Apollo show was featured.
