‘If I have to’ – West Ham target issues strained update regarding his future

Thiago Mendes, a reported target for West Ham, has issued an update regarding his future, stating “If [he has] to stay” at Lyon then he will do so.

Mendes has been a mainstay of the Lyon side for the past couple of seasons. The Brazilian made 32 league appearances last term, and has made 27 this season.

“I still have a year of contract left with the club for which I give my all. I’ll leave here anyway with my head held high.”

Given he still has another year left on his deal, he
