If Albion Rovers get into a rhythm we can really climb Lowland League, says goalkeeper Ross Connelly

Albion Rovers goalkeeper Ross Connelly says his side just need to get a rhythm going to soar up the Lowland League table.

The Cliftonhill side made it back-to-back draws in the fifth tier when they followed up last midweek's stalemate at Cowdenbeath with a 1-1 draw at Cumbernauld Colts on Saturday.

It leaves Rovers a lowly 15th in the division and three places off the bottom, with as many as five games in hand over some of their rivals.

But Connelly reckons Rovers can make huge leaps if they manage to string some wins together.

They visit ninth-place Gala Fairydean Rovers on Tuesday night and then host 12th-place Caledonian Braves on Saturday - and Connelly wants to see results.

He said: "If you get rhythm in this league and a run of wins, you can jump right up the table.

"I think that is happening with some other teams right now but we are still chasing because we are four or five games behind some teams, so don't let the league position fool anyone.

"If we get a run of wins, we will jump right up the table.

"We are still in the South Challenge Cup and the Scottish Cup so that is making the season a little bit disjointed, but a run of wins in the league is definitely the aim for us.

"Gala is a really tough place to go. They like to play football. They have had some up and down results but for us it is about putting our plan into place and getting the three points.

"The target for us is to put in as solid a performance as individuals and for the team to pick up as many wins as we can.

"We've got a really young team but we've got to work our hardest to get high in the table and chase down the likes of [leaders] East Kilbride and [second place] Cumbernauld Colts."
