Ibrox latest news: Rangers warned that Borussia Dortmund victory is 'just one game'

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has warned Rangers that their recent win over Borussia Dortmund shouldn’t be over celebrated because it was “just one game”.

Giovanni Van Bronckhorst’s side took a giant step towards reaching the last 16 of the Europa League with their with victory in Germany last Thursday but dropped points against Dundee United three days later to lose ground in the title race.

The Gers arrived in Dortmund having got their season back on track with three routine victories after the Old Firm derby debacle. But not even the most optimistic of the 500 travelling fans could have predicted what they were in store for at the Westfalenstadion.

First half goals from James Tavenier and Alfredo Morelos put Rangers in cruise control before John Lundstram belted home a stunning third to put the Scottish champions 3-0 up inside 50 minutes.

Jude Bellingham gave Dortmund a foothold in the tie, although Dan-Axel Zagadou turned into his own net soon after to put Rangers in dreamland.

Raphael Guerreiro’s late strike has given the Bundesliga outfit hope ahead of the second leg at Ibrox, but Rangers still are on course to reach the last 16 for the third season on the bounce.

Despite the result proving one of Rangers’ best results ever in European competition, Bridge was firm on the fact that Van Bronckhorst’s team have achieved nothing yet.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I spoke to Kris Boyd the morning after the Dortmund game because he was in the studio for Sky watching the game. I said, I hate to be that guy, but it’s just one game.
