Ibrahima Konate adds to Liverpool's under-rated quality highlighted by Alisson

Ibrahima Konate scored his first goal for Liverpool as they put themselves in pole position to make the last four of the Champions League.

The Frenchman was a summer signing but has had to bide his time since moving to Anfield. His effort opened the scoring against Benfica in Lisbon before Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz also found the back of the net giving the Reds a 3-1 first-leg lead as they eye a second European triumph in three years.

Konate became the 20th man to score for Liverpool in all competitions as they continue to eye the quadruple. The club's ability to share the goals around the team is a huge plus with five individuals scoring at least nine goals this term. Alisson is the man tasked with keeping goals out, but sees their variation in the final third as a major plus.

"Everyone can score in the team, that is good for us and we keep on going and get ready for the next one," he told the club's website, before adding on the Frenchman: "It's really important for us. He's a young player, a big talent with a lot of qualities. He is a good defender, a top guy and a really nice person as well. I'm happy to have him on the team and we can count on him as well to score goals."

Mo Salah is enjoying his best goalscoring season yet as he eyes a third Golden Boot in five seasons. He has scored 28 times in all competitions with Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane both hitting double figures. The Portuguese star has already hit the 20-goal mark.

Roberto Firmino and Takumi Minamino have both scored nine times whilst January arrival Diaz has quickly found his feet on Merseyside. He has notched three times and is expected to continue his goalscoring exploits as the season continues with plenty of games still to come.
