Ian Wright tips Aston Villa to make shock transfer swoop for Chelsea striker

Ian Wright has identified Chelsea striker Armando Broja as a summer transfer target that could get Aston Villa fans “off their seats”.

The 20-year-old has earned plenty of plaudits during his loan spell with Southampton this season, the Albanian international scoring nine goals for the Saints across all competitions. He has missed just five league games for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

Villa have had the luxury of both Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings to pick from as central strikers this term, but have struggled to discover a winning formula. Both were on target in last weekend’s win over Norwich, taking their collective tally to 15 league goals.

However, Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Broja could offer an entirely different proposition for Steven Gerrard ’s side. Alongside previous Villa target Yves Bissouma , the pundit has outlined both as the players to help the club reach the next level.

“It’s not a million miles away with Aston Villa,” Wright told the Kelly and Wright Show. “I mentioned Bissouma, I’d get that kind of player and I’d probably go for Armando Broja, who’s at Southampton.

“He’s the kind of player - you see how hungry and driven he is - he just wants to score goals and he will get fans off their seats. If you’re able to get a player like him, then you’ve got Jacob Ramsey and someone like Coutinho who can find him.

“Then you’re starting to get some excitement because you’ve got the kind of players that can give you that entertainment. It’s a Bissouma and Broja kind of signing and then down the spine there, you've got something you can build on.”
