Ian Wright aims dig at Wolves approach after Arsenal win

Ian Wright has aimed a dig at Wolves for their approach to Thursday night's game against Arsenal.

Wolves opened the scoring after just 10 minutes with Hwang Hee-chan getting the opener following a mistake from Arsenal defender Gabriel.

But they were unable to hang on with Nicolas Pepe equalising in the 82nd minute before a deflected shot from Alexandre Lacazette gave Arsenal a big three points in the battle to finish in the top four this season.

And former Gunners striker Ian Wright has admitted he was 'pleased' with the way the match ended at the Emirates.

Speaking during DAZN’s coverage of the match, he said: “Wolves were wasting time, I don’t want to sound all sour and that.

“But I am quite pleased that happened in the end when you get one that late. I think we did deserve that because they were trying to waste time.”

Wright, who scored 185 goals during a seven-year spell at the North London club, was then asked why Wolves were attempting to run the clock down.

He added: “Because they were trying to hold onto the game. You look at the way Wolves were playing, with the players they have got. They brought Neto on. Podence had to go off.

"They weren’t trying to have a go at Arsenal. They were sat back.”

It's not the first time that Wight has criticised Wolves after playing Arsenal.

Following Ruben Neves's comments on the Gunners celebrations after their slender 1-0 win at Molineux a few weeks ago, he hit back at the Portuguese midfielder.

Speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast, he said: “I was vexed with Neves, coming out and saying ‘look at how Arsenal are celebrating’.

“What’s wrong with you?

“That’s an unbelievable result for Arsenal the way that you lot have been playing. 1-0 nil down with ten men away from home
