Ian Evatt reveals where he thinks Bolton Wanderers really are right now

Bolton Wanderers have had a great season under Ian Evatt pushing up the right end of the league. 

Since the January transfer window especially they have been in brilliant form and for a while looked capable of making the play-offs.

Bolton are still 11th in the league which is a respectable finish but 12 points from the play-offs would make it remarkable if Bolton were to make the top six now.

There will no doubt be disappointment at Bolton that they weren’t quite able to make the play-offs but Evatt feels nothing but positivity at the club as he told Bolton News: “I think we have done so much work on and off the pitch. The club is in such a much better place now thanks to Sharon [Brittan] and the board.

“We are able to build our recruitment policy and make sure that we are bringing in players that we feel can be assists on the football pitch for us moving forwards.

“The team has improved and evolved as the season has gone on and I think there is lots more to come.

“Nothing but positivity really. We are always going to be disappointed when we don’t win because we are at a huge club and the expectation is to win, but the main thing is we are progressing.”

With the play-offs looking unlikely this season, Evatt is firmly of the belief that they can build upon the foundations they have created this season and push to go a step further next season as he said: “The main thing is we keep building, stick to our policies, stick to our beliefs and we will have a good go at it again next year.

“If you look at the other divisions and the level of points to be in the play-offs – the Championship for instance and League Two – there isn’t that huge gulf.
