'I wouldn't rule out…' - Sky Sports reporter drops big hint over 'spectacular' Spurs-linked star

Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge has told This Is Futbol that he ‘wouldn’t rule out’ Tottenham Hotspur moving for Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez in the summer transfer window.

Spurs’ interest in the Argentine forward is nothing new as they enquired about his availability last season but were told he would be available for £60 million. It now looks like the North London outfit could go back in for him summer to partner Harry Kane up front under his former boss at Inter, Antonio Conte.

It was reported that Martinez and Inter rejected Spurs last summer as the striker was happy in Italy despite Inter reportedly agreeing on a deal for him. The rejection has seemingly not phased Spurs as they could look to go back in for Martinez, but nothing is concrete yet.

When asked about the possibility of Spurs moving back in for Martinez, Bridge told TIF: “I think Martinez is something I wouldn’t rule out, but I’d say at the moment, let’s get this right Conte and Paratici and Levy have not had this chat yet. So, we don’t know who exactly is on the table, the names at the moment out there are hearsay, but we do know that like the player because Tottenham had negotiations with Inter last summer.

“Some journalists went completely overboard and said that terms had been agreed and it was pretty much a done deal, which obviously proved not to be the case. But we do know that Spurs do like him.

“It’d be down to Conte at the end of the day whether he thinks that he’s the right player for them.”

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

Over the last few seasons, Martinez, who was called ‘spectacular’ by Lionel Messi, has proved himself to be one of the best young strikers in world football, bagging 25 goals this season and 19 goals and 11 assists last
