'I wish I'd died too' - Heartbreaking moment mum realised her daughter had died in M6 crash

The mum of a three-year-old girl who lost her life in a 'fireball' motorway crash broke down in tears as she said she wishes she had died too.

Little Faye Dawson was on her way home to Wallasey from a trip to the Blackpool Illuminations with mum Beth when a Porsche Boxster going the wrong way down the M6 crashed into them. The Porsche burst into flames, with eye-witnesses describing seeing a "fireball", as debris was scattered across the carriageway.

Moments later, Beth regained consciousness - but when she saw a group of people gathered around Faye's body, she knew instantly that her beautiful little girl was dead, reports LancsLive. She has spoken of her agony after her life was torn to pieces.

Beth said that when people tell her that she had been lucky to survive she "wish she'd died too" so she wouldn't have to live with the heartbreak of having lost her daughter.

Beth and her partner, who was also in the car at the time, had both suffered serious injuries while the driver of the Porsche, 79-year-old Terence Unsworth from Preston, died from burns after his car burst into flames.

At an inquest into Terence's death, held Thursday November 2 at Preston Coroner's Court, witnesses described how he had joined the M6 at Junction 28 but then, "unfathomably", indicated right and mad a U-turn to head the wrong way down the motorway. After colliding with Beth's car, his Porsche was consumed by flames.
