"I was told" – Transfer insider drops major West Ham update on fifth player linked this week

West Ham could make movements over a potential deal for Adnan Januzaj later this week, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Having handed him his Manchester United debut, David Moyes is now hoping to reunite with the £76,000 per-week star at the London Stadium.

According to Diario de Sevilla (via Sport Witness), the Hammers are interested in offering the winger a route back to the Premier League.

The report states that Januzaj is on West Ham’s ‘agenda’ as Moyes hopes to continue strengthening his squad ahead of the new season.

The Londoners have already made three summer signings, and along with Januzaj, are interested in quartet Amadou Onana, Jesse Lingard, Gianluca Scamacca and Armando Broja.

Real Betis and Napoli are also in the race for Januzaj, but Moyes is ‘keen’ on linking up with the free agent, and Jones reckons that developments could take place in the days ahead.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “They need depth and Januzaj is not coming to West Ham to be a squad player, he wants to make an impact.

“I was told that he expects movement on this deal this week but that could easily drag a bit because of all of the deals they are working on.”

Januzaj was highly-rated when he was rising through the ranks at Manchester United, but his stats since leaving back in 2017 suggest that he hasn’t quite lived up to his early-career hype.

Big things were expected of him when he burst on the scene and marked his full Premier League debut by scoring twice against Sunderland, when Moyes was Red Devils boss.

He would end that season with a modest return of four goals and four assists, but he wasn’t able to kick on in the following campaign, which ultimately proved the catalyst for his United exit.
