'I was texting her that morning': Teen's devastation as 17-year-old friend suddenly dies

A grieving teenager has bravely spoken out to pay tribute after her lifelong friend tragically died. Morgan Iddon passed away aged 17 on April 5, devastating her close friend Abigail Meehan.

The pair, who grew up in Bolton, had been friends since they were babies. The former Thornleigh Salesian College students lived minutes away from one another before Morgan moved to Preston, Lancashire, with her dad.

Tragically, Morgan's mental health spiralled following the move, Lancs Live reports. She had been studying a course in animal management at Myerscough College, near Preston, and Abigail says her pal had been looking forward to travelling abroad to take part in turtle conservation efforts.

Abigail, 18, said: "I spoke to her by text on the morning she died - I was probably one of the last people to speak to her. She was talking about going away with college to do some rescue work with turtles."

Following Morgan's death an inquest was opened, and a pre-inquest review took place on Friday (July 19) at Preston Coroner's Court. Assistant Coroner Richard Taylor was informed that it is believed Morgan tragically took her own life.

Abigail said that while Morgan had experienced issues with her mental health for some time it became more prominent after she moved to Preston. However, as a big animal lover, she had seemed happy on her course at Myerscough.

The pair had been pals since they were babies as their parents were close friends. While Abigail comes to terms with the loss of her childhood friend, she has paid tribute to Morgan by having two tattoos representing the pair's shared love of Marvel films.

"She was the one who got me into Marvel films,"
