"I've been told" - Transfer insider hints Chelsea could use Hudson-Odoi to sign 83-goal forward

Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi could be used as part of a deal to bring Wilfried Zaha to Stamford Bridge, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Todd Boehly is keen on making the Crystal Palace winger his fourth signing of the window and Jones reckons that Hudson-Odoi could come into the reckoning.

According to reporter Simon Phillips, Chelsea, who are long-term admirers of Zaha, are interested in prising him away from Selhurst Park before 1 September’s transfer deadline.

Zaha, who’s entered the final 12 months of his deal in south London, could be seen as an alternative to Raphinha after the Blues missed out on signing him, which means Raheem Sterling and Carney Chukwuemeka remain their only attacking acquisitions.

French outlet Media Foot claim that the 29-year-old is one of Chelsea’s priorities, although they face competition from Roma, who are also monitoring his situation.

But Jones reckons the Blues could improve their chances of signing Zaha by using Hudson-Odoi, who Fabrizio Romano stated could leave Stamford Bridge this summer to increase his game-time.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I’ve been told that if Chelsea were to make a move for Zaha, then Hudson-Odoi might come into the equation.”

Chelsea might have to offer Hudson-Odoi plus cash to convince Palace to sell their talisman, but this would be a superb piece of business for Thomas Tuchel.

Despite earning £130,000 per-week, Hudson-Odoi is yet to fulfil his potential, even though he’s made more than 100 appearances since breaking into the first-team.

Hudson-Odoi has scored just four goals and added 12 assists in his four years in the Premier League, compared to Zaha, who’s scored 39 goals in the same period, taking his overall tally with the Eagles to 83.
