"I understand" - Journalist drops big West Ham and Broja claim after Karren Brady talks

West Ham were told to pay £30m when they enquired about signing Chelsea striker Armando Broja, while other clubs were quoted less, says transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Albanian looks to be closing in on a move to the London Stadium, but Jones has revealed that talks between West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady and Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly were not initially straightforward.

According to The Guardian, West Ham have submitted a £30m bid with add-ons for Broja.

The above comes after the Hammers made a £25m offer for the Chelsea forward, who reportedly wants a permanent transfer this summer and not another loan move.

Broja, of course, joined Southampton temporarily last year, with the south coast club giving him the platform to perform.

In total, the 20-year-old scored nine goals in 38 appearances, which was clearly enough to catch West Ham’s attention.

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that there has been a lot of confusion surrounding this Broja deal because Chelsea have been quoting different prices for their academy product.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “Karren Brady, I understand, met with Boehly for talks about what it might take and was told £30m. The problem with that is other clubs that had enquired about Broja were told it was less than that.

“It was closer to £20m, and they were talking to other people at the club, so there was a lot of confusion about why they were being given one fee and other people had been told another.”

If West Ham can wrap up this deal, which looks more than possible, Moyes will be delighted.
