'I tried Sky's new way to watch TV'

For decades, the only way to watch Sky TV was to have one of the company's dedicated satellite dishes installed on the side of your home. Thankfully, changes over the last decade have allowed Sky TV subscribers to watch their favourite content over the internet with the Sky Glass TV releasing in 2021 providing a truly dish-less experience.

Other gadgets can also provide a dish-less experience, including the Wi-Fi enabled Stream box that can beam Sky TV into any smart TV with a single HDMI cable. However, the broadcast and tech company has now brought out a new version of its popular TV range, the Sky Glass Gen 2, and it brings a whole new host of upgrades that make it the new ultimate way to watch Sky's impressive library of content.

Our colleague at Mirror Online, Technology Editor Dave Snelling, has been putting the new telly to the test, opening his review by saying that there's 'plenty to like'. While the first generation of Sky Glass had its supporters (and got better over time thanks to countless software updates), the second generation is much more of a home-run for Sky with Snelling describing it as a 'signficant step up. The refreshed Quantum Dot 4K screen is so much better than before, with content looking bright, rich and colourful. This QLED panel still can't match full OLED technology from the likes of Samsung and LG, but those screens are very expensive and made for the more premium end of the market.

Sky Glass Gen 2 is perfectly watchable, and most consumers will genuinely enjoy bingeing on boxsets, watching sporting action and tuning into a blockbuster - it just won't suit those wanting the ultimate OLED experience.
