‘I tried Greater Manchester’s best pancakes according to Tripadvisor and it did not disappoint’
As Shrove Tuesday sweeps across the UK today, there’s no better time to indulge in a savouring stack of pancakes, especially when they are hailed as Greater Manchester’s finest.
Seeking to uncover the best pancakes Manchester has to offer, our search led us to Tripadvisor, where one eatery emerged as the top-rated destination, boasting a perfect score of 5/5.
Edison Bar, in Salford, is the place where people can’t seem to get enough of their American-style pancakes, and according to reviews, it is THE place to be. So of course we had to check the hype out for ourselves, and after trying them firsthand, it’s easy to see why.

First up on the menu included a long-standing favourite of Streaky Bacon and Maple Syrup pancakes, priced at £9.50. The indulgent creation featured a generous stack of fluffy pancakes that had a cakey texture which left a delicious and warm comfort in the mouth.
The streaky bacon was crispy and drizzled in rich maple syrup where each bite brought a blend of savoury and sweet. But some patrons, including myself, may find themselves wishing for more of the drooling sauce for the set price. Despite this minor shortfall, the dish remains a hearty indulgence for breakfast, brunch or dinner since the pancakes can be ordered all day long.
For those with a craving for the sweeter side of tasting, the Strawberry, Nutella, and Whipped Cream pancakes offer a delightful treat priced at £8.95.
Here, fresh strawberries mingle with creamy Nutella and billowy whipped cream atop a stack of light, fluffy pancakes. The portions at this spot are impressively generous, ensuring pancake lovers are left satisfied.
