"I think they will" - Transfer insider now claims West Ham could make signing in next few days

West Ham will sign a new player before the new Premier League season kicks off, but it will probably not be a new forward, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

David Moyes has strengthened his side ahead of the 2022-23 campaign but with a month until the transfer window slams shut, there is still plenty of time to bring in more recruits.

Last week saw the east Londoners confirm the signing of Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca from Serie A side Sassuolo. The £32 million purchase made it four transfers for the summer following the arrivals of Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes and Nayef Aguerd.

Despite Scamacca’s arrival, West Ham could still make a move for another forward this summer, with Chelsea’s Armando Broja a reported target.

Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt winger Filip Kostic and Napoli attacking-midfielder Piotr Zielinski have also been targeted, as Moyes looks to strengthen with European football once again on the agenda.

According to Jones, it is likely that West Ham will add further bodies further before the new season gets underway.

Jones understands that while a new addition is likely before their clash with Manchester City this weekend, chances are it will not be a forward who arrives.

When asked about the likelihood of a new frontman arriving, the transfer insider told GIVEMESPORT: “It might be a bit too optimistic. I think they will sign someone before the season begins but I don’t think it’d be a forward that they sign.”

At the start of the summer, the answer was a resounding yes. While Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen formed an impressive trio with Michail Antonio, there was a noticeable drop in quality beyond them.

Said Benrahma continued to show flashes of his brilliance with eight goals and six assists
