"I think they will" - Sky Sports reporter now drops "ambitious" Tottenham claim

Tottenham will challenge for the Premier League title next season if they secure Champions League football and keep Antonio Conte and Harry Kane, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Spurs are outsiders for a top four finish following their draw with Liverpool on Saturday, but victory in Thursday’s north London derby would blow the race wide open.

Despite being the first Premier League team to leave Anfield without losing since October, the 1-1 draw means that Spurs’ hopes of returning to Europe’s elite competition are out of their own hands.

Conte’s side are now four points adrift of their neighbours and are relying on Arsenal dropping points twice in their final three fixtures.

However, Tottenham have still made huge improvements under Conte’s guidance, with the Anfield draw securing their best finish since Mauricio Pochettino left the club back in 2019.

Spurs are now four points clear of sixth-place Manchester United and can’t come below the Red Devils, which means they’ll be playing at least in the Europa League next season.

And Bridge reckons that a full summer of Conte, and keeping Kane, could see Tottenham emerge as Manchester City and Liverpool’s closest challengers.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I want him to have a proper pre-season, I think that’s where Spurs could be dangerous.

“I think if Tottenham finish in the top four, and Conte and Kane stay, I know I’m being a bit ambitious, but I think they will be in the title race next season. I think they will finish in the top three, that’s how highly I rate Conte.”
