'I talked to my people in Leipzig...' - ESPN man issues big Leeds transfer update

Jan Aage Fjørtoft has been speaking about Leeds United transfer target Tyler Adams on the ESPN FC YouTube channel.

Leeds will now be looking to intensify their attempts to bring in recruits for the centre of midfield following the departure of fan favourite Kalvin Phillips to the Premier League champions, which saw them receive £45m.

Jesse Marsch has managed to sign Manchester City youngster Darko Gyabi for just £5m, however, the club will surely acknowledge that a lot more is needed if they are to avoid any major suffering from losing Phillips.

And former footballer Fjørtoft claims that he’s spoken to people at RB Leipzig over midfield target Adams.

He said: “Tyler Adams could go there [Leeds], and I spoke just before we went on and I talked to my people in Leipzig, and they said that Jesse Marsch is so in love with this player, so this is all about money to get him to Leeds.

“Do I think that he is as good now as Kalvin Phillips? No, the answer is no, but it is as maybe as good as it gets for Leeds at this moment and Tyler Adams could be a good fit for Leeds United.”

TIF Thoughts on Tyler Adams…

The American international is already very well-known by Leeds manager Marsch, having worked with him out in Germany, so it’s no surprise that he is looking to bring him to the Premier League, while he would become the third arrival from one of the Red Bull Group’s football teams this summer.

It appears it is a clear strategy being deployed by Marsch and the Leeds board this summer to target players the manager may already have a connection with from his previous jobs, and if the signings all hit the ground running, very few will be questioning the decisions being made behind the scenes.
