I saw what West Ham did that made Manchester United players angry in controversial defeat

Manchester United crashed to yet another defeat after losing 2-1 to West Ham in a game featuring a series of missed chances and a remarkable late penalty decision.

United dominated the first half and saw a hatful of chances come and go. Alejandro Garnacho twice missed good opportunities, Bruno Fernandes should have put a header on target and Diogo Dalot missed an open goal.

It always felt like United could pay for their profligacy and when West Ham improved after a triple substitution at the break the game was much more even. One of those subs, Crysencio Summerville, scored with just over 15 minutes to go to give the Hammers the lead.

Casemiro levelled with a header before VAR intervened to hand West Ham a controversial and debatable penalty that led to furious protests from United players and officials. Jarrod Bowen scored from the spot to win the game for the Hammers.

Matthijs de Ligt immediately gestured to the screen and pleaded for Coote to look again, suggesting a handball by Danny Ings. Andre Onana ran towards the touchline to tell the fourth official the same.

United's players were incensed and seeing the replay
