I saw what Amad did without the ball for Manchester United that Ruben Amorim will love

Manchester United got their Europa League campaign back on track with a hard-fought win against PAOK that was inspired by a brilliant double from Amad.

After a disjointed first half, the 22-year-old scored twice after the break to secure United's first European win in more than a year. He produced a clever header to convert Bruno Fernandes' cross and then rifled in a brilliant second to put the game to bed.

United needed the victory after three successive draws against PAOK, Porto and Fenerbahce, but they made hard work of a side struggling themselves in this competition before Amad's intervention.

The win makes it two wins and a draw for Ruud van Nistelrooy before his final game as interim manager against Leicester City this weekend. Here is what you might have missed from Old Trafford:

Amad's workrate

When Antony was selected to come on ahead of Amad in the draw with Fenerbahce the latter sat on the bench and seethed. He got his chance in the end when the Brazilian went off injured, but the 22-year-old clearly remained unhappy with the decision.

It took Erik ten Hag a long time to give him a chance last season and after a bright start this term he has gradually dropped down the pecking order again. He might feel the arrival of Ruben Amorim gives him a fresh start and he looked determined to use it against PAOK, proving a point in the process.

He was United's most inventive attacker but we know Amorim wants to see energy and workrate as well as quality and Amad showed plenty of that. He was constantly up and down the right flank and at one point early in the first half he sprinted across the pitch to close down three successive PAOK
