'I moved to Saudi Arabia with my Manchester City footballer husband... I was pleased to see one thing'

The move to Saudi Arabia was sudden and unexpected. But there's been one home comfort in particular that's helped Taylor Ward get over the culture shock.

Taylor, an influencer with more than 3M followers on Instagram moved to the Middle East last summer after her husband, treble-winning ex-Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez received a lucrative offer, reportedly worth around £750,000 a week, from Al-Ahli.

"So far, the experience has been amazing," Taylor, 26, told the Daily Mail. "There's obviously no alcohol so I won't be having a glass of wine! To be honest, there's more there than I originally thought.

"When I went on my first trip, I saw a Nando's. I was just like 'I'm so happy they've got Nando's'."

A clip of Taylor bursting into tears after Mahrez bluntly told her about the move went viral on social media. Filmed as part of the Amazon Prime series Married to the Game, which follows Premier League stars and their partners, it shows Mahrez responding to his wife's fears she would be left 'at home on her own', by saying: "It's part of the game isn't it."

But having had six months to reflect on the move, Taylor, the daughter of former footballer Ashley and Real Housewives of Cheshire star Dawn, says she now has a better understanding of her new home.

"The vibe is just very different," she said. "It's a lot more chilled out there, it's quieter and calmer, whereas in Manchester life is so busy - there's so much going on and we're always going out for dinner and seeing friends.
