"I'm sure" - Journalist says £30m star "keeping close tabs" on Leeds situation amid Marsch hire

Jesse Marsch could make long-term Leeds United target Brenden Aaronson his first Elland Road signing and the Red Bull Salzburg creative midfielder is sure to be keeping tabs on the situation, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Marsch was appointed as the Whites’ new head coach on Monday, with the American penning a contract until the summer of 2025.

Major League Soccer insider Tom Bogert has revealed Leeds remain expectant of signing Aaronson when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

It comes after the Whites opened the bidding at £15million in January, only to see the proposal pushed back amid further interest from AC Milan and RB Leipzig.

While Leeds increased their offer to £20million, they were forced to admit defeat in their winter pursuit of Aaronson.

However, The Athletic correspondent Phil Hay has suggested the Premier League side are confident the 18-cap United States international will be available at the end of the season.

It appears Leeds could face competition for the 21-year-old’s signature as transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed domestic rivals could enter the race for Aaronson’s services.

But appointing Marsch could strengthen the Yorkshire giants’ chances of winning the race as he previously worked with his fellow countryman at Salzburg, handing the attacking midfielder 25 appearances during his tenure.

Jones believes Marsch will already be looking at potential transfer targets ahead of the summer window.
