"I'm sure" - Journalist drops Spurs transfer claim after Paratici's 827-mile scouting mission

Journalist Pete O’Rourke is ‘sure’ that FC Porto attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira will be on Tottenham Hotspur’s list of potential targets ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form this season and could be brought in to solve Spurs’ struggles in the final third of the pitch.

Vieira has played a pivotal role in Porto’s rise to the top of the Primeira Liga standings, scoring two goals and providing a whopping 11 assists in just 18 appearances.

And his outstanding performances have reportedly attracted the attention of some of European football’s biggest sides.

According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham scouts were sent on an 827-mile trip to watch Sergio Conceição’s charges draw 2-2 in an entertaining encounter with Sporting Lisbon.

The report doesn’t specifically outline what the north London outfit’s officials were doing at the Estádio do Dragão, but it does state that Vieira was a possible target of their interest.

With Antonio Conte axing the likes of Dele Alli, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso in January, rebuilding Spurs’ attacking options could be a priority ahead of next season.

And O’Rourke is positive that Vieira will be on the capital club’s ‘radar’ as they contemplate how to strengthen their forward line.

He told GiveMeSport: “I’m sure Vieira is on their radar as well, he’s had a good season in the Primeira Liga in Portugal.

“So yeah, Spurs will be looking to see where they can strengthen their attacking options. And Vieira, again, will be on the list alongside a number of players.”
