'I'm scared for my children, I can't live this'

A woman who claims her housing association home has mice says she's 'had enough' - and fears for her children's health.

Sophie Corbett, who lives in Abbey Hey, said she has been complaining 'every single day' about the rodents in her home to no avail. She claims the first time she complained about the issue was in 2022, and despite several visits from Jigsaw Homes, no improvements have been made.

She says she is 'petrified' of mice and is scared her young children - aged eight, five, three and nine months - will get sick from the state of the home. Jigsaw Homes said her children's health and safety is their 'top priority'.

"I'm a single mum to four young children, the youngest being just nine months, and she has just learned how to crawl," Sophie, 30, told the Manchester Evening News. "I'm worried her crawling around is going to make her seriously poorly.

"I've well and truly had enough of waking up to mice in my home. I'm scared to come out my room at night because I keep finding them in the traps."

Sophie said she has been forced to buy her own traps off Amazon after not seeing results from the ones bought by Jigsaw Homes.

A spokesperson for Jigsaw Homes Group said: "We understand how upsetting a pest infestation can be, especially for a family with young children, and their health and safety is our top priority.

"We have been working with Miss Corbett to try and resolve the issue of mice and we are sorry to hear that the pest control treatment that took place in October was not successful.

“Our pest control contractor was not able to access Miss Corbett’s home for a follow-up in November. When we were made aware that the problem persists, pest control revisited last week (06 March) and added more sealed box traps. A
