'I'm going to kill you, mum - die you c***'

A drugged-up son who 'terrorised' his own mother and threatened to kill her has been jailed.

Shane Desborough, 40, turned up to his 'terrified' mother's house and hurled abuse at her while she lay in bed, Hull Crown Court heard. The threats left her frightened in her own home and fearing that the door would not hold in keeping him out.

Desborough, of no fixed abode, was jailed after pleading guilty to making threats to kill his mother, breaching a restraining order through harassment, possessing a knuckleduster as an offensive weapon and possessing cannabis, reports HullLive.

Amber Hobson, prosecuting, said that Desborough's mother was in bed at 6.30am on April 13 when she heard loud banging on her front door and shouting. She recognised her son's voice and believed that he was intoxicated.

He asked to come inside but shouted: "I'm going to kill you" as well as "Die, you c***" and "Let me in." She believed that he was genuinely threatening to harm her and she was scared.

When the police arrested him, he told them that he had a knuckle duster on him. The mother later said: "I am scared to be home on my own. I am scared that the door will not hold. I am worried that I will not be able to defend myself.

"I am physically sickened by this and I am scared about what Desborough will do. He is a violent person."

Desborough had convictions for 41 previous offences, including possessing weapons and assault.

Rachel Scott, mitigating, said that pre-sentence reports on Desborough made for "grim reading" with few positive points. "He has not covered himself in glory," said Miss Scott. "He knows that he needs to move out of the area when
