'I'm convinced' - Journalist now expects Lampard to upgrade potential 'bargain' Brands signing

Tony Scott has admitted on the All Together Now podcast that he expects Everton to sign a new right-back this summer.

It was only a few months ago that Everton looked to finally address the largely ignored right-back department by bringing in youngster Nathan Patterson, however, for differing reasons, he never managed to make it onto the pitch in a Premier League match.

Therefore, that has raised questions as to why he was signed and whether he is even good enough to cut it with the Toffees, which isn’t great considering that Seamus Coleman is currently out of the club’s pre-season plans due to his fitness.

This is why Scott believes a right-back will be brought in this summer.

Scott said: “He was fit for a couple of games under Frank Lampard, Benitez didn’t play him, and I think he had a couple of chances under Duncan Ferguson as well, but never got a look-in, either.

“Listen, I may be proved wrong, I hope I’m proved wrong. I hope he plays out of his skin at the weekend against Arsenal, and I hope he’s our right-back for five or six years and we’ve got a bit of a bargain on our hands, but it remains to be seen how good he is.

“I’m convinced that we’ll get another right-back in the window.”
