I'm an F1 star pushing my luck and here's my UNORTHODOX plan to score points against the big 5

Creative Niko Hulkenberg admits madcap tactics used by his Haas team-mate to secure his only point of the F1 season may become the norm in the pursuit of the big five.

Red Bull superstar Max Verstappen is on course for a fourth consecutive world championship with McLaren, Mercedes, Aston Martin and Ferrari set to round out the top five. Haas are the only other team to score this campaign thank to Hulkenberg's team-mate Kevin Magnussen befuddling the opposition in Saudi Arabia. The Dane's madcap tactics allowing his colleague to nab a point and still have the chance to pit.

And Hulkenberg reckons ingenuity will become the norm. Speaking to the Motorsport.com, he said: "I think in races like this [in Saudi] when, currently we have the top five teams, if they stay in the race, that's the top 10 taken. So, I always feel you have to do something unorthodox and something not so [logical] or what seems like common sense. You have to obviously push your luck a little bit and do something different, offset yourself and, like in the past, that has often paid off.”
