'I'm actually told' - Journalist now reveals 22 y/o 'is interested' in following Botman to NUFC

Ben Jacobs has claimed on the NUFC Matters YouTube channel that Newcastle United target Moussa Diaby is interested in a summer move.

The Magpies have been credited with an interest in Diaby this summer to help bolster their options in the wide areas and thus, take some pressure off the shoulders of Allan Saint-Maximin and Diaby would certainly do just that having registered 31 goal involvements last season.

While Newcastle and their fanbase would likely be buzzing to see someone of Diaby’s potential and already obvious talent arrive at St James’ Park, it has been reported that Bayer Leverkusen would be wanting to receive at least £60 million for the winger, which could be a major stumbling block to any move.

However, if the Magpies can agree on a transfer fee with the Bundesliga outfit, then it may not be too difficult persuading Diaby himself to join, as Jacobs spoke about.

(11:25) “The first offer that Newcastle make, which hasn’t yet been formally tabled, will be rejected at £35 million which is kind of testing the water it’s also a way of getting an indication as to whether the player is open to the move.

I’m actually told that he is [open to the move] so it’s one to watch over the course of the window.”

TIF Thoughts on Diaby interest…

It will be encouraging but also, almost alien for Newcastle fans to hear that a young talent valued at £60 million, would be open to joining their club, despite not being able to offer any kind of European football.

Having Diaby on one wing and then the flamboyant Saint-Maximin on the other would certainly be an exciting one for the Geordie faithful as they attempted to complete a total of 230 and 122 dribbles in the league last season, respectively.
