‘I’m a completely different man’ - how a play-off bid, doubts from the terraces and management multi-tasking changed Ebbsfleet United boss Josh Wright in 2025/2026
Josh Wright reckons he’s a “completely different man” after his first full season in football management.
The Ebbsfleet boss has been in charge since December 2024 but after effectively babysitting a side hurtling towards relegation in the first six months, he’s now had the chance to do things his own way.
In terms of first managerial roles, few others could have gone through what Wright has had to endure - and he’s revealed the impact that’s had on him.
“I’m a completely different man as I’ve learned so, so much,” vowed Wright.
“I learned a lot in that first few months when it was really tough - I think anyone would have found it tough - but I grew and I adapted.
“You never really expect or understand what gets thrown at you in this role but I’m a completely different man and a completely different manager from what I was this time last year.
“I really have grown, I’ve adapted. I’ve been through it all. I’ve had a cycle of different players, different squads and different moments. We’ve had highs and lows, we’ve had different situations throughout, and I really feel like I’ve experienced and seen so much.
“I’ve loved it. There’s been great moments and there’s been some tough moments but I don’t think anything can prepare you for what happens during this role.
“If I thought I was ready and I thought I was going to enjoy it or know or feel what it was this time last year, my good god I’m now a different man again.
“I’m even hungrier for it. I already feel refreshed, I already want it again and I can’t wait for what’s to come.
“You learn every single day. I wouldn’t have anyone tell me [otherwise], even the best person in the world whatever they do in whatever industry can never stop learning.
“That’s the beauty of this
