'I love you so much': John Travolta pays heartfelt tribute to Grease co-star Dame Olivia Newton-John

Tributes are beginning to pour in to Grease star Dame Olivia Newton-John, with her co-star in the hit musical film, John Travolta, paying a heartfelt tribute on his social media. He says the British born actress and singer made 'all of our lives so much better' and signs off the tribute 'your Danny' in reference to his character in the iconic film.

The Instagram post is accompanied with a picture of Newton-John who passed away at her ranch in Southern California on Monday August 8. The tragic news of the 73-year-old's death was announced by her husband John Easterling in a statement on her Facebook page.

Olivia had been battling breast cancer for 30 years and was surrounded by her family and friends as she passed away 'peacefully'. Her cause of death has not been confirmed.

She rose to stardom after starring in the film as Sandy alongside now Hollywood heavyweight John Travolta, who played a leading role as Danny. In his tribute on Instagram he says: "My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible.

"I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again.

"Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!"

In a statement posted on social media, Olivia Newton-John’s widower John Easterling said: “Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.

“Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer.
