“I know that” – Transfer insider reveals Brentford’s stance in pursuit of Nottingham Forest ace

Nottingham Forest attacker Brennan Johnson has caught the attention of a whole host of top-tier clubs this season, with Brentford being perhaps the side that have shown the most interest.

The 20-year-old, who is enjoying his first season of Championship football, has played an integral role in Forest’s continued success under Steve Cooper, contributing with 13 goals and six assists in 37 appearances. 

Johnson has proven to adapt to the rigours of second-tier football seamlessly, proving to be one of the brightest prospects in English football at present. 

A Football Insider report from just after the closure of the January transfer window revealed that Leeds United are also very much interested in the Championship ace. 

When asked about Leeds’ interest and whether the Whites would have an advantage because of the possibility of more game time at Elland Road than at other Premier League destinations, transfer insider Dean Jones said: “Yeah, possibly.

“But I know that Brentford are still really keen on Brennan Johnson and a time when it looks like, you know, they’re in a pretty good place again.”

The verdict 

Johnson is a really exciting prospect at Forest who has not let the outside noise impact his performances on the pitch at all. 

The 20-year-old plays with a great amount of confidence and maturity, and he has almost instantly emerged as an integral part of the starting XI. 

Johnson still has six games left this season, and possibly three more should they secure a play-off spot and progress to the final, and whilst the interest will be flattering, he will be fully focused on playing his part in what remains.
