'I have huge doubts...' - Four Lads Had A Dream deeply concerned by Rangers player news

Rangers bloggers Four Lads Had A Dream have raised ‘huge doubts’ over the decision to award Allan McGregor a new contract.

It was confirmed on Monday that veteran goalkeeper McGregor has signed a new one-year deal at Ibrox.

The 40-year-old’s previous contract had expired, and so it looked like his time at Rangers may be up.

But manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst pushed for a renewal, explaining that ‘it is important to have players in our dressing room who really understand the club’.

In all, he’s made 446 appearances for The Light Blues, keeping 204 clean sheets.

Last season, he started 29 of Rangers’ 38 Scottish Premiership matches and 14 of their Europa League games, including the final against Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville.

Four Lads Had A Dream stressed that ‘McGregor is a Rangers legend’ and that his ‘legacy [is] safe as one of the greatest’ to wear the shirt. But they questioned the award of an extension on the basis of his displays in 2021/22.

“I have huge doubts over this extension & his recent domestic performances,” the tweet read.

“[It would] be wrong to write him off completely, but we need more than what we saw domestically last season.”

There’s no doubting McGregor’s iconic status at the club. He’s helped them win four SPFL titles, four Scottish Cups and five Scottish League Cups.

And on an individual level, he was named Player of the Year in 2020/21 when they stopped Celtic from winning 10 in a row.

4LHAD aren’t the only ones to raise concerns about his
