'I don’t take it into account' - Norway's Erling Haaland plan risks irritating Man City

Erling Haaland will start for Norway against Slovakia on Tuesday evening despite Manchester City worries over injuries.

Pep Guardiola told all of his players to make sure they were fit for the final two months of the season where the Blues will try and retain each of the three trophies that they won last year, when they made history with the Treble. City face Arsenal at home on Sunday in a crunch Premier League clash that could prove decisive in the title race.

Haaland was reported to have limped out of training with Norway last week and there was some debate in the country over whether he would play in their games given they will not be taking part in the European Championship this summer. However, Norway coach Stale Solbakken played Haaland for 75 minutes against Czech Republic on Saturday and will include him in his XI again this week.

Rejecting concerns that Haaland and Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard could get injured ahead of their Sunday showdown, Solbakken also did not rule out them playing the full match.

"I basically don’t take that into account," the coach said. "As a rule, I don’t take it into account other than common sense.

"There are five days until that match. I have spoken to both of them. Both are very eager to play the game. I think we should be happy about that."

City youngster Oscar Bobb is also set for another start in his breakthrough season. Bobb scored a terrific goal in the defeat on Saturday after taking his opportunities at the Etihad this season to make himself a valuable member of Guardiola's squad.
