I don't fall for Paul Scholes' boy next door image – I know what he's really like
Roy Keane previously revealed that he's never been taken in by Paul Scholes' "boy next door image".
The former Manchester United captain shared his perspective on his ex-midfield partner in his 2014 autobiography, 'The Second Half'. Scholes, who was a team-mate of Keane's at Old Trafford for 12 years, won 11 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, four FA Cups and three League Cups during his illustrious career.
Despite being known as United's midfield maestro, he was often perceived as shy and reserved in his approach to life, both on and off the pitch, compared to some of his more boisterous team-mates. However, if his quiet demeanour was a ruse intended to deceive, it didn't fool Keane.

"Scholesy was a top, top player but I still don't fall for the boy next door image," Keane wrote in his book. "Or that he's dead humble. He has more of an edge to him. Everyone thinks he lives in a council flat."
Scholes' small stature and quiet behaviour almost once convinced Sir Alex Ferguson that the former England international didn't have what it takes to succeed at United. In his 2013 autobiography, Ferguson recalled his initial meeting with Scholes and how the player's size became a recurring joke throughout his career, as per the Mirror.
