'I don't care if people judge - it's the best £7,000 I've ever spent'

Like so many women across the world, Eva McConvile was deeply self-conscious about her body – specifically her flat chest.

Impacting her confidence in every aspect of her life, the 38-year-old had felt embarrassed and awkward in her own skin for as long as she could remember.

The mum-of-one can recall always wearing bras with pads and silicone fillets, anything to make it look like she had some shape.

Her body image struggles meant the hairdresser even refused to go on holiday with her family in fear of wearing a bikini.

“It definitely made me feel less womanly,” Eva, from Liverpool, told the Manchester Evening News. “It’s impacted me for a long time, I just didn’t want to go on family holidays. I was very self-conscious of it.

“I remember my mum going out to buy bikinis for me, padded ones, even though I had the padded ones, you could tell my chest was absolutely flat.

“I remember crying my eyes out in the bedroom, not wanting to go on holiday. That’s how much it affected me. I didn’t want to go with my brothers and sisters.”

After years of feeling self-conscious, Eva finally decided to take control of her body and undergo breast augmentation surgery after years of saving in October 2023.

While the procedure at Manchester Private Hospital cost around £7,000, Eva says it was worth every penny.

“I had nothing at all,” the mum added. “I finally got the money to get it done and it’s just changed my life completely.

“I couldn’t wear certain clothes because of it. I couldn’t wear certain clothes because of it.

“[I had been] saving for a long time, years. My mum helped me out with some of the money.
