'I did my nails at home to save money - it was a huge reality check'

Getting your nails done at a salon isn't cheap, but many people see it as worth it to have gorgeous nails all month long.

Whether you're a fan of a ballet-core mani like Molly-Mae, you opt for something more colourful and swirly, or you adore French tips, the finished product can be so satisfying to see, and you'll be really grateful to the magic your nail tech has managed to work for you.

However, prices seem to constantly rise in nail shops, so there's been an influx of people taking doing their nails into their own hands and buying at-home kits - but one woman has issued a warning after it didn't look how she intended it to.

Content creator @dancingandthings posted a picture of some perfect nails, writing over the top: "What I thought my nails were gonna look like after I got an at-home dip powder kit".

The nails that she was hoping to recreate were pink, neat, and super shiny with neat cuticles - and they almost looked like they'd been done at the salon.

She then posted "how they turned out", and they looked terrible. The product had gone all over the skin around her nails, and it looked seriously bumpy. She posted a clip of herself howling with laughter underneath the nail, acknowledging how bad they looked with the caption: "Big oof".

She then showed them from a different angle in different lighting, and they looked even worse. In some parts you could see her actual nail underneath it, and then some parts were so lumpy with the product, making it look awful.
