“I’d be amazed” – Journalist drops major verdict as Chelsea eye £121.5m-rated duo

It is unlikely that Chelsea targets Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus will both land at Stamford Bridge this summer, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Manchester City pair have been linked with moves away from the reigning Premier League champions in recent weeks as their contracts are due to expire in 12 months’ time.

A report from The Guardian last month claimed that Chelsea are joined by Spanish giants Real Madrid in monitoring Sterling’s situation, who has previously stated he is open to moving abroad.

The 27-year-old has fallen down Pep Guardiola’s pecking order in recent times and started just 23 Premier League fixtures throughout 2021/22.

Sterling, who is valued at £76.5m by Transfermarkt, still registered an impressive 17 goals and nine assists in 47 appearances last term, though, highlighting why the last two winners of the Champions League are keeping close tabs on him.

And Jesus is another attacking talent at City who could seek pastures new following the arrival of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

According to Football.London, Chelsea have been in touch with the Brazil international’s agent over a potential move, although Arsenal are also believed to be eager to secure his signature.

Jones ‘can see a situation’ where both Sterling and Jesus departing the Etihad Stadium but thinks it’s improbable that west London is the duo’s next destination.

He told GiveMeSport: “I can see a situation where Jesus and Sterling leave in this window. I’d be amazed if they both landed at Chelsea.
