'I couldn't believe it' - Peter Schmeichel slams Andre Onana after Nottingham Forest goals vs Man United

Peter Schmeichel has claimed Andre Onana "made it easy" for Taiwo Awoniyi to open the scoring during Manchester United's meeting with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Forest silenced the United crowd with a shock early goal at Old Trafford, Awoniyi finishing calmly inside two minutes after a devastating counter-attack. The Reds failed to make anything of a corner, with the ball bouncing out to Morgan Gibbs-White whose flicked header fell to the Nigerian.

He was able to knock the ball ahead of Rashford, who was unable to do anything to stop the run. The Forest frontman hesitated once in front of Onana, but the 27-year-old dropped to the floor too early and made his opponent's decision for him.

It was a woeful start from United and things got worse just two minutes later when a free-kick bounced off Willy Boly's head and into the net.

"I honestly couldn't believe what I was seeing for the first goal," Schmeichel told Premier League Productions. "So many mistakes and so much went wrong.

"There's so much space left behind them, Rashford is the last man, doesn't win the tackle and Onana makes it easy for Awoniyi. Then it's 1-0 and 25 seconds after the restart, [Willy] Boly doesn't move and just heads it in."

United managed to pull a goal back through Christian Eriksen, the Dane flicking Rashford's driven cross goalwards. Casemiro then equalised early in the second half as United went in search of a winning goal.

United's Adidas home shirt is made up of the same colour of the city's iconic red rose and features a black collar. The collar also features a dash of both red and white, giving it a slick and modernised look.
