I cleaned my greasy air fryer with a little-known 99p Home Bargains item - I’ll never use another method again

If you are anything like me, you’ll struggle to remember what life was like before having an air fryer. As my most-used kitchen appliance, it’s my go-to for quick, healthy meals and has the added benefit of being more energy efficient than an oven.

But with such frequent use, often multiple times a day, this means that I’m not always on top of cleaning it.

Even after just a few uses, grease and grime can easily build up - and they’re not the easiest of appliances to clean.

I’ve tried several methods, from dishwasher tablets to simply letting it soak in soapy hot water for a few hours, but nothing quite seems to do the trick.

I always find myself endlessly scrubbing to get rid of the burnt-on grease and end up making a complete mess in my kitchen.

It was only when I came across an air fryer cleaning hack by the team at Lottomart I had to try it out for myself.

The experts advised using an unlikely item - denture cleaning tablets - to remove stubborn grease and residue from your appliance.

A spokesperson for Lottomart, who recommended this tried-and-tested method, said: “These fizzing tablets are typically used for cleaning dentures, but they are packed with powerful ingredients like peroxide, oxidisers, baking soda, and washing soda.

“These all work together to break down the stubborn grime when mixed with warm water; the effervescent fizz acts as a catalyst, loosening grease and residue, making it much easier to wipe away."

Fortunately, I already had some Steradent in (a brand of denture tablets) as I use them to clean my Invisalign retainers. However you can buy a pack of 30 for as little as 99p from Home Bargains, or a pack of four for £3.96.
