I changed my life by scoring twice against Man United - Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he was 'flabbergasted'

Not since Cardiff City in 2008 has a club outside of the Premier League reached the FA Cup final.

That is the scale of the prize Coventry City will be targeting when they march down Wembley Way on Sunday afternoon. The challenge for Manchester United and Erik ten Hag, of course, is to try and stop them.

Sunday's meeting between the two clubs will mark a first in the FA Cup between the pair since 1987. That marked the year Coventry won their first and last FA Cup crown, beating Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in the final.

Coventry, meanwhile, went into the contest on the back of a 4-1 defeat to Ipswich Town. Everything was in place for United to enjoy a fairly comfortable, stress-free evening, where they would maintain their impressive run of form.

However, Ferguson's decision to ring the changes, naming a weakened XI, featuring the likes of Phil Bardsley, Chris Eagles and Lee Martin, backfired. Coventry, against all odds, won 2-0 and booked a fourth round tie with West Ham United the following month.
