Hythe Town manager Ira Jackson’s new signings, including two-goal Kian Scott, help end five-match losing streak in Southern Counties East Premier Division

Hythe Town’s new signings made the difference as the Cannons ended their five-match losing streak.

Kian Scott scored his first goals since rejoining from Hollands & Blair as Ira Jackson’s side won 2-1 at Chislehurst Glebe on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Frankie Beckles, defenders Jason Fregene and Folarin Awoleke, and forward Troy Chiabi also impressed after linking up with the squad.

Hythe trailed inside three minutes but teenager Scott struck either side of half-time to get their Southern Counties East Premier Division campaign back on track.

“Kian deserves his goals,” said manager Jackson, whose side host Athletic Newham in the FA Vase second qualifying round at Reachfields this Saturday (3pm).

“He’s come in and is exactly what we’re missing in the forward line. He works his absolute socks off.

“He wasn’t happy where he was and we made a move.

“The relationship we’ve had for the last four or five years has come in handy, and his relationship with the club from previously being here.

“He’s got his rewards in that game on Saturday.

“It’s probably two of the easiest goals he’s ever going to score but he’s worked so hard in the last three games to get those opportunities. I couldn’t be happier for him.

“He wants to work, he wants to win and he will not stop until he does, and he wants to learn.

“He’s got experience playing this level and the level above.

“At 18, he’s got some great attributes that if we can continue to develop and hone, he’ll become a very powerful force for us in the frontline.”

Fregene, a star of Hythe’s run to the Isthmian South East play-off final three seasons ago, is another welcome addition after a spell out of the game.

He’s the experienced head Jackson needed following captain Ollie Gray’s departure.
