Hythe Town appoint former Grimsby Town forward Ira Jackson, 28, as their new manager

Hythe Town have named Ira Jackson as their new manager following relegation from Isthmian South East.

Jackson succeeds Nick Davis at Reachfields and is the first appointment of new chairman Andy Nanda as the Cannons look to rebuild in Southern Counties East.

“I’m honoured to take on the role of manager at Hythe Town,” said Jackson, who at 28, will be one of the youngest bosses in the non-league game.

“This club has a rich history and a passionate fanbase.

“I’m excited to build a team that reflects the community’s spirit and ambition.

“Together, we’ll work towards a future filled with pride and success.”

Jackson played for the likes of Dover, Whitstable, Sittingbourne and Margate but played his best football across two spells at Folkestone, scoring 54 goals in 130 appearances.

His form at Invicta earned a move to the Football League, playing under Ian Holloway at Grimsby Town.

Jackson retired from playing in January last year, moving into coaching with Corinthian under-23s and finishing this season working with Geoff Record at Sheppey United.

The new boss has named Josh Algar as his assistant and Stephane Ollier as first-team coach.

Hythe were relegated just two years on from reaching the Isthmian South East play-off final under Steve Watt.
