Hurricanes sign Stepan to one-year deal after PTO
The Carolina Hurricanes signed forward Derek Stepan to a one-year, $750,000 contract on Tuesday.
Stepan previously spent training camp with the Hurricanes on a professional tryout contract.
"Having Derek in Carolina last season, we know what he brings to the table and what he adds to our team," Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said. "He gives us additional forward depth and provides us with yet another veteran presence in the locker room."
The 32-year-old had nine goals and 19 points in 58 games with the Hurricanes last season.
Stepan has 177 goals and 504 points in 817 career NHL games with the New York Rangers, Arizona Coyotes, Ottawa Senators and Hurricanes.
He was drafted by the Rangers in the second round, 51st overall, of the 2008 NHL Draft.
