Hunt reacts to Sundowns defeat: 'They are bringing on multi-million dollar players'

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt praised his team's efforts after losing 2-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-finals on Sunday.

Matsatsantsa handled themselves well against their Pretoria rivals and were perhaps unfortunate not to have taken the lead after creating a few chances.

The scores remained goalless for most of the match, but Sundowns brought on new signings Marcelo Allende and Abubeker Nassir just after the hour mark, proving to be the difference.

Allende put the Brazilians in front in the 80th minute, and Nassir secured the win with a 90th-minute strike.

"No, it wasn't a true reflection. I mean, you know, I'm proud of the players," Hunt told SuperSport after the game.

"We had the best chances in the game. The ball was going across the six-yard box how many times the whole game?”

"You know, if you score... we can... you know, and then obviously the ball goes through everybody, it takes a deflection, they get lucky. But as I say, look at our team. We're bringing on young kids.

"They are bringing on multi-million dollar players, you know. So, these kids … they are great - I mean, they were brilliant. I can't be more proud of the players."
