Hull KR youngster Will Tate makes Championship loan move

Hull KR youngster Will Tate will head to Cumbria after signing a two-week loan deal with Championship side Workington Town. The 20-year-old, who made his debut for Rovers in 2020, has made the short-term move in order to gain valuable game time.

Tate hasn't featured for Rovers so far this season and the opportunity to experience more first-grade action has seen Rovers send the young outside back away. He will be in contention for Town's games with Whitehaven and Dewsbury Rams, Rovers' dual-reg partner.

Workington, who are coached by former Hull FC halfback Chris Thorman, are winless and currently bottom of the Championship table. Since debuting for Rovers, Tony Smith has called upon the youngster on a number of occasions and last featured in their play-off semi-final defeat to Catalans Dragons.

He's the latest youngster to go out on loan, with academy graduates Dan Okoro and Connor Moore both joining Hunslet on similar deals. Workington say Tate will go straight into contention for the big Cumbria derby on Sunday.
