Hull FC's Challenge Cup clash with Sheffield Eagles finalised with date and venue announced

Hull FC’s Challenge Cup clash against Sheffield Eagles will be played at Featherstone Rovers’ Post Office Road stadium. The sixth round clash will take place on Saturday, March 26, with kick-off scheduled to be at 2pm.

The Eagles’ new home ground in Sheffield is still under construction and as a result they are currently unable to host games. As such, the club have been on the hunt for a venue to host since the draw was made on Monday evening.

The Championship club played home matches at Doncaster’s Eco Power Stadium and Wakefield Trinity’s Belle Vue last year while their Olympic Legacy Park home was out of action. However, the part-time side will make the relatively short journey up the M1 next Saturday to take on Hull for the first time since their 2015 Cup meeting at Bramall Lane.

Mark Aston’s side have started the Championship season well, with two wins coming from their opening four games and they’ll be keen to test themselves against Super League opposition. The Black and Whites, on the other hand, will be confident of progressing to the quarter-finals of the competition but they won’t be taking the game lightly.

FC’s record win came against Sheffield back in 2003 as Shaun McRae’s side thumped the Eagles 88-0 at the MKM Stadium. The two sides have met just twice since then with Hull winning convincingly on both occasions.
